ASUENE, a Japanese provider of AI-powered sustainability management software, has raised $87 million in a Series D funding round led by Decarbonization Partners, а joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek, marking the fund’s first investment in Japan and bringing the company’s total capital raised to $161 million.
The round comprises $43.8 million in new equity alongside $19.3 million in debt financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, with participation from eight new and existing domestic and international investors including Daikin and Ricoh.
ASUENE said the capital will fund international mergers and acquisitions across Europe, North America, and Asia, accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) and product development, and support new business launches as the company positions itself as a serial acquirer in the global sustainability software market.
From Japan To Global Standard
Founded in Japan, ASUENE provides an all-in-one platform covering greenhouse gas accounting, supply chain emissions management, life-cycle assessment, and energy reduction—tools that manufacturers and supply chains use to meet disclosure requirements under frameworks including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, CDP, and the Science Based Targets initiative.
The company said it aims to establish its platform as the de facto global standard for manufacturing supply chain sustainability.

“As companies face increasing expectations to measure and reduce emissions across their operations and supply chains, sustainability data is evolving from a reporting requirement into a strategic business tool,” said Dr. Meghan Sharp, global head and chief investment officer of Decarbonization Partners.
Kohei Nishiwada, ASUENE’s founder and chief executive, described the ten-month fundraising process as “a complex, high-stakes deal” navigated against rapid market change, including the rise of generative AI, and said the close reflects the dedication of everyone inside and outside the company.
ASUENE operates across Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.
