Isometric has made its first nature-based certification for the inaugural batch of reforestation credits generated by Brazilian carbon removal company Mombak.

As shared in the announcement, Mombak has now generated 21,771 reforestation credits from the Reforesting the Brazilian Amazon Project 1.

Besides being Isometric’s first nature-based certification, these credits are also the first reforestation issuance for Mombak and the world’s first native-species reforestation credits certified using dynamic baselines.

Earlier this year, Isometric certified Mombak’s first-ever credits, generated through enhanced rock weathering (ERW).

The Brazilian Amazon reforestation credits were certified under Isometric’s Reforestation Protocol, which was approved to issue credits with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label from the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) in February 2026.

Mombak’s operations include restoring degraded pastureland in the Brazilian Amazon, turning rundown landscapes into biodiverse forests through the planting of native species and assisted natural regeneration.

To date, the Reforesting the Brazilian Amazon Project 1 has grown to cover 12 farms, where Mombak has planted almost 15 million trees across more than 100 native species, 16 of which are endangered.

According to the company, these operations have led to the creation of nearly 600 direct jobs in vulnerable Amazonian regions.

Through its carbon removal activities, the company has secured a number of sales agreements worth more than $170 million in contracted revenue. Its buyers include Google, McKinsey, and Microsoft, while its Amazon reforestation project was the first initiative selected by the Symbiosis Coalition.

The reforestation credits were issued with Certify, Isometric’s agentic certification platform, and the evidence and calculations behind every credit are published on the Isometric Registry.

Isometric CEO Eamon Jubbawy stated, “Forest carbon is the most scrutinized corner of carbon markets, and for good reason. Too many legacy credits were issued on estimates and inaccurate data.”

“This issuance is different,” he added. “With dynamic baselines, albedo accounting, and native species, these are the most scientifically rigorous reforestation credits ever issued.”
