Isometric Bolsters Leadership Team With Industry Heavyweights - Carbon Herald

Isometric announced two major additions to its Science Leadership Team: Dr. Jennifer Wilcox as the new head scientist and Stacy Kauk as the director of science initiatives.

Dr. Wilcox brings unparalleled scientific expertise, while Stacy Kauk boasts a proven track record of driving growth and efficiency in the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) market.

This strategic leadership duo will solidify Isometric‘s position as the most trusted registry for scientifically verified carbon removal.

This expansion significantly strengthens Isometric’s Science Team, responsible for setting strict guidelines for measuring, reporting, and verifying (MRV) all CDR activities. These rigorous standards translate into high-quality carbon credits, boosting confidence for both buyers and sellers – a crucial factor for scaling up CDR solutions.

Bringing unique expertise onboard

Stacy Kauk, a renowned leader in the CDR field, joins Isometric after leading sustainability efforts at Shopify. There, she constructed their CDR portfolio and co-founded Frontier, a pioneering organization. Kauk’s contributions have significantly propelled the industry forward and at Isometric, she will leverage the company’s established standards to further enhance their market leadership.

Kauk emphasized the importance of high-quality carbon credits: “Having been an early buyer of CDR, it’s clear to me that ensuring the quality of carbon credits is critical to helping the market scale.”

“The market needs more buyers and that requires new entrants to have confidence that one credit is equal to one tonne of carbon removed from the atmosphere. Building a registry focused on rigorous thresholds was the most important task I saw that I could contribute to and Isometric was the obvious place to do that. CDR is a critical piece of the solution set, and I’m here to make sure it’s done right and delivers true climate impact.”

Dr. Jennifer Wilcox, previously the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, brings a wealth of academic and government experience. She is a prominent figure in the scientific community, having authored and edited foundational books on CDR technology.

Dr. Wilcox shared her enthusiasm: “I’m excited about this next chapter in working with Isometric and their Science Team! These frameworks are essential to get right for ensuring that removals are durable and taking place on a timescale that impacts climate.”

“Scientific rigor is a critical factor of restoring confidence in carbon markets and is what makes Isometric carbon removal credits unique. Stacy and Jen’s partnership will enable us to build such rigor into our products better and faster.”
