InverBosques has successfully issued verified, high-integrity carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits from its Colombia-based Brújula Verde project focused on afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR).
This achievement marks the first verified credit issuance for this project since its establishment back in 2019, and it represents a volume of over 230,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent of CDR on the Gold Standard registry.
In 2022, Brújula Verde secured financing support from Natixis, Trafigura and GenZero, who backed this initiative as part of an effort to build a bankable, transparent, and scalable nature-based removals platform.
Its high-quality impact was validated by BeZero Carbon, who awarded the project an ‘AA.Pre’ carbon rating in November 2025, reflecting a very high assessed likelihood of achieving its CO2 removal goals and placing it among the top 4% of rated afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR) projects globally.
InverBosques has shared that the first trade of the credits has been executed via Climate Impact X (CIX), and the project developers expect further CDR volumes to be transacted through this platform.
Located in Vichada, in Colombia’s Orinoco region, the Brújula Verde project operates on land severely degraded by recurrent fires, extensive grazing, and desertification, where it applies mixed-species afforestation and soil restoration to bring these areas back to life.
Besides delivering carbon removal, which is tracked with advanced digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) technologies, the project also delivers social and economic development in this underserved region in Colombia.

To enable these operations, InverBosque runs a purpose-built nursery that allows the production of more than 15 native species, with a capacity for up to 20 million seedlings per year, unlocking annual plantings of up to 10,000 hectares.
So far, the project has planted over 15,000 hectares of land, with Trafigura and GenZero joining forces to back an expansion up to 20,000 hectares.
Looking ahead, in 2026, Trafigura, on behalf of InverBosques and the involved parties, will engage with customers to catalyse demand for high-integrity CDR and help channel private capital towards credible, community-linked nature-based climate solutions.
