EKI Energy Services (BOM: 543284), a prominent carbon credit developer and supplier in India, has successfully registered a groundbreaking 24.7 MW floating solar project on the voluntary carbon market (VCM).
This project, developed by Germany’s Greenam Energy for captive use, marks a global first as the only floating solar installation to be certified under the Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), according to a statement, published by EKI Energy last week.
Situated on water reservoirs in Tamil Nadu, in southern India, the floating solar photovoltaic (PV) plant will contribute significantly to sustainable energy production while curbing carbon emissions by an estimated 38 tons annually.
The integration of floating solar technology showcases a forward-thinking approach to renewable energy, combining efficient land use with environmental benefits.
Mr. Manish Dabkara, Chairman and Managing Director of EKI Energy, said, “Sustainable
future with innovative solutions is not a possibility but a responsibility.”
He highlighted the company’s leadership in renewable energy by utilizing solar power on water, showcasing the potential for this transformative technology.

The VCM allows companies and individuals to purchase carbon credits to offset their own carbon emissions voluntarily.
It comprises various participants, including project developers who create and manage carbon projects to generate credits, and businesses or institutions seeking to neutralize their emissions.
Standard-setting bodies and brokers also play essential roles in facilitating transactions and maintaining market integrity.
EKI Energy is known for offering comprehensive climate solutions globally, including carbon credit management, generation, supply, and offsetting, as well as carbon footprint assessments, sustainability audits, and initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality and climate-positive outcomes.
With a presence in over 16 countries and a client base exceeding 3,500 across more than 40 nations, the company has made significant contributions by supplying over 200 million carbon offsets to date.
