Nature restoration company Nattergal and Earthly, a company that links businesses with climate-oriented nature investments, have partnered up to bring third-party verified voluntary biodiversity credits to the carbon market.

With this initiative, the two companies will provide buyers with access to high-integrity voluntary biodiversity credits, where investments will support nature restoration efforts in the United Kingdom.

The partnership was officially launched at Nattergal’s flagship restoration site in Lincolnshire known as Boothby Wildland.

While kicking off operations at this initial site, the nature restoration company has also shared that looking ahead, it has the ambition to scale operations into a wider portfolio of projects.

Earthly, on the other hand, works with high-quality nature and climate projects, using a science-led verification process to assess their environmental and social impact.

The newly announced collaboration will bring biodiversity CDR credits closer to businesses and individuals interested in backing nature recovery, whether through corporate commitments, sustainability goals, engagement strategies, or personal support for the natural world.

Under the partnership, the Boothby restoration site has been assessed using Earthly’s Keystone 3.0 framework. This industry-first project assessment methodology analyzes projects across three core categories of ecosystem benefit: carbon, biodiversity, and people.

Boothby has been evaluated against 106 data points, with the methodology that also includes AI pre-screening, satellite monitoring, and a stronger focus on water systems.

As part of this process, the different segments of Nattergal’s work at Boothby, including community engagement, biodiversity monitoring, CO2 sequestration, and hydrological recovery, have been independently audited and validated through an external third party.

With 92% of projects submitted to Earthly failing the screening process, Boothby has emerged among the 8% of projects that manage to achieve high-integrity validation.

Nattergal’s Boothby site is focused on restoring 617 hectares of ecologically degraded land into a dynamic landscape of wetlands, grasslands, scrub, and woodland, powered by natural processes such as the reintroduction of a beaver population in this area.

As a result, these eco-improvement efforts are helping create healthier soils, restoring the hydrology and enriching the biodiversity in this region, and delivering significant benefits for the local community.
