Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and AM Green have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the techno-economic feasibility of producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from ethanol, green methanol from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and green hydrogen.
The feasibility study is expected to be completed by mid-2025, marking a major step toward large-scale industrial decarbonization, Honeywell said in a statement on Tuesday.
The partnership, which was formalized at India Energy Week 2025, aims to enhance India’s energy security by:
- Reducing dependence on crude oil imports;
- Positioning India as a competitive exporter of green methanol, helping the shipping sector transition to low-emission fuel;
- Supporting airlines in meeting CORSIA mandates with low-carbon, drop-in fuel alternatives.

“The collaboration with AM Green will help advance India’s low-carbon economy and create an ecosystem that supports the government’s SAF blending mandates, positioning India as a global leader in alternative fuel innovation,” Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India, said in a comment.
Modi highlighted that Honeywell’s carbon capture and ethanol-to-jet technologies, combined with AM Green’s expertise in green hydrogen and ethanol production, will accelerate sustainability efforts.
On behalf of AM Green, Co-Founder and President Mahesh Kolli said that the partnership highlights AM Green’s growing leadership in clean energy transition solutions, while contributing to India’s goal of becoming a key exporter of reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective green molecules.
According to Kolli, green methanol production will play a key role in decarbonizing shipping, steel, and cement industries.
The initiative will also benefit Indian farmers by increasing demand for ethanol feedstocks and aligns with the government’s National Green Hydrogen Mission to expand green hydrogen and green methanol production.
