Heimdal And CapturePoint Launch Largest Operational DAC Facility In The US - Carbon Herald

Today, Heimdal Inc., in collaboration with CapturePoint LLC, is unveiling its inaugural direct air capture (DAC) facility in northern Oklahoma, close to the town of Shidler in Osage County.

The facility, named Project Bantam, represents a leap forward in the direct air capture industry, showcasing the potential for large-scale carbon removal solutions.

The DAC facility has the potential to capture over 5,000 tons of CO2 annually. This impressive capacity will not only establish it as the largest operational direct air capture plant in the United States but also as the second largest in the world.

Commenting on the collaboration with CapturePoint, Marcus Lima, co-founder and CEO at Heimdal, shared that the company is thrilled to be partnering with experts in carbon storage to deliver a hub of sustainable innovation and economic opportunity to Oklahoma.

CapturePoint is currently running a facility that utilizes CO2 extracted from a nitrogen fertilizer plant located in Coffeyville, Kansas. This CO2 is then transported 68 miles via pipeline to Osage County, Oklahoma.

The carbon management company is engaged in CO2 production across 23,500 acres in the North Burbank Unit near Shidler, where it operates over 80 active CO2 injection wells and has secured rights to another 10,000 acres designated for CO2 storage in Osage and Kay Counties.

Hemdal has grand aspirations for the DAC sector, and although this current project spans only 5 acres, the company has revealed intentions to expand to 1,000 acres, generating hundreds of employment opportunities in Shidler.
