Groundwork BioAg, a company specializing in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) based on a type of soil fungi called mycorrhizal, has announced a strategic partnership with Beck’s Hybrids to widen the reach of its decarbonization operations and enable more farmers to tap into CO2-related revenue streams.

This week, the two companies shared that they are joining forces to offer American farmers that are part of Beck’s Grain Attribute program a chance to access Groundwork BioAg’s Rootella® mycorrhizal inoculants and Rootella Carbon® program.

Developed through years of research, tests, and improvements, Rootella® mycorrhizal inoculants are exclusively cultivated by Groundwork BioAg and have the ability to form fungal mycelia that attach to plant root networks in the soil, effectively extending them.

This solution enables improved water and nutrient absorption, reducing the need for fertilizers and unlocking savings and richer crops for agricultural growers.

Rootella® mycorrhizal inoculants help boost plant resilience for cultures grown in high-stress environments vulnerable to droughts, flooding, or varying salt and acidity soil content.

The innovative fungi solution also provides a valuable carbon removal pathway that, according to Groundwork BioAg, delivers permanent results.

The Rootella Carbon® program, on the other hand, offers farmers the chance to tap into the voluntary carbon market by selling soil carbon credits from their agricultural activities supported by Rootella® mycorrhizal inoculants.

As highlighted on Groundwork BioAg’s website, the farmers that opt in for its Rootella Carbon® program receive up to 70% of the net proceeds from the sales of carbon removal credits.

With this solution already deployed across 23 global markets, the new partnership between Groundwork BioAg and Beck’s Hybrids is now looking to bring new opportunities to US-based farmers.

Commenting on the partnership, Thad England, director of U.S. strategic accounts at Groundwork BioAg, stated, “By working with Beck’s, we are able to introduce Rootella Carbon to U.S. farmers in a way that respects grower choice.”

“This partnership sets an example of how biological innovation and market access can align to give farmers more options for productivity and profitability,” he added.
