Gold Standard Releases Digital SDG Impact Tool For Its Projects

Gold Standard To Pilot Requirements For Government Emission Reduction Policies - Carbon Herald

The Gold Standard – a leading standard setter for climate and sustainable development projects, has released a new tool to increase data visibility and accessibility of its projects. Named The Digital SDG Impact tool, it aims to record the climate and sustainable development impacts of projects under Gold Standard that contribute towards global climate goals.

The tool allows for the seamless reporting, validation, verification of project SDG impacts and assessment of the project against the Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) safeguarding principles. The platform also allows for the independent verification and certification of the impacts and shows a major part of the organization’s certification process that is complex.

It is a useful tool for project developers, auditors and reviewers as well as governments hosting projects to set the SDG indicators that align with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

“Helping project developers deliver high-integrity, high-impact projects has been the goal of our Standard since the beginning. The digitization of the SDG Impact Tool enhances our capability to deliver on this goal, by reducing the intricacy of an integral part of the certification process,” commented Margaret Kim, Gold Standard’s CEO.

Project developers can also add indicators to the tool, rule updates, and other related technical documentation. An account registration is required for the tool to be accessed. The tool release marks a significant step in Gold Standard’s efforts to fully digitalize its Standard and certification process. Better data discovery also helps stakeholders of carbon removal/ emission reduction projects to make much better informed decisions.
