Frontier Infrastructure And Wild Assets Sign Major Deal For Carbon Removal Credits - Carbon Herald

Frontier Infrastructure Holdings, a developer of low-carbon infrastructure across Texas and the Mountain West, has signed a major offtake agreement with Wild Assets, a global asset manager focused on carbon dioxide removal (CDR).

The deal secures up to 120,000 tonnes of high-permanence CDR credits using bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) technology, according to a statement, published by Frontier earlier this week.

The credits will be generated by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from ethanol refineries and transporting it via rail to Frontier’s Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub in Wyoming.

This permanent geologic storage approach avoids the challenges of pipeline permitting and connects dispersed emissions sources to large-scale sequestration infrastructure.

Frontier, a portfolio company of Tailwater Capital, is using a rail-based logistics model in partnership with a major railroad to move the captured carbon.

This alternative transport strategy boosts flexibility and accelerates deployment timelines for durable carbon storage.

“This agreement validates our strategy to lead in CO2-by-rail logistics and invest in the infrastructure required for durable carbon storage,” said Steven Lowenthal, Co-CEO of Frontier.

The partnership is hailed as a significant step forward for the voluntary carbon market (VCM), especially as demand rises for verified, long-term carbon removal solutions.

Wild Assets emphasized Frontier’s alignment with Puro.earth’s rigorous standards and its role in the energy value chain.

“Our confidence in Frontier’s CDR projects stems from their thoughtful engineering, elegant design, commitment to Puro’s stringent standards, and their strategic role in the energy value chain,” said Matan Rudis, Partner at Wild Assets.

The agreement underscores BECCS as a key solution in tackling climate change and highlights the importance of scalable, high-integrity carbon removal technologies.
