Frontier Carbon Solutions Unveils Carbon Capture Project Sprint - Carbon Herald

Frontier Carbon Solutions (Frontier) is taking a leading role in advancing the agricultural industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions by partnering with several refineries across the Midwest to provide comprehensive carbon capture solutions.

The company plans to implement liquefaction capture technology, a highly efficient method for extracting over 400,000 metric tons of CO2 annually from fermenters, producing CO2 with a purity level of more than 90%.

After converting the captured CO2 into liquid form, Frontier will take advantage of the existing rail network to transport the emissions to the Granger Carbon Terminal, a specialized CO2 rail offloading facility currently under development by Frontier.

From this terminal, the CO2 will be transferred through Frontier’s own pipeline, traveling about two miles to an injection site where it will be permanently stored underground.

This initiative is one of the few viable solutions for transporting large quantities of CO2 across state lines for storage before 2030. Frontier’s strategy is both scalable and practical, designed to deliver quick results.

By utilizing the US rail system, Frontier aims to minimize the environmental impact and the need for new construction, reducing potential disruptions for local farmers and landowners.

This project provides a critical decarbonization option for many biogenic CO2 sources.

Project Sprint is part of Frontier’s broader efforts, and the company will continue to rely on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technologies to sustain progress.
