Frontier Announces 5th Round Of Pre-Purchase Agreements

Frontier Announces 5th Round Of Pre-Purchase Agreements - Carbon Herald

Frontier has announced the initiation of its fifth round of pre-purchase agreements.

Instead of a single yearly application period, Frontier will now implement a continuous evaluation system, concentrating on acquiring carbon removal solutions that fill specific needs within the industry and their existing investment portfolio.

The organization is particularly interested in securing agreements with projects that demonstrate the following:

  • Projects focused on accelerating enhanced weathering and mineralization processes, especially those that provide additional environmental advantages, or those collaborating with industrial entities possessing underutilized alkalinity resources (such as mining, steel, cement, and lime industries) to enable rapid and cost-effective deployment.
  • Biomass-based carbon removal initiatives that introduce innovative approaches to anaerobic digestion to optimize carbon sequestration, as well as bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) technologies capable of utilizing smaller, geographically dispersed biomass sources that are not economically viable for large, centralized processing facilities.

  • Ocean-based carbon removal projects that demonstrate tangible supplementary benefits, such as localized reduction of ocean acidity and improvements in fisheries, and that have well-defined strategies for producing or acquiring feedstocks with the potential for gigaton-scale carbon removal.
  • Direct air capture (DAC) projects that prioritize energy efficiency and flexibility to minimize emissions from electricity grids, or those integrated with mineralization techniques to mitigate potential short-term limitations in geological storage capacity.

Applications can be submitted via the official Frontier website.
