Climate Impact Partners has secured a major new sale of carbon dioxide removal credits in an agreement made with a Fortune Global 500 company.
As part of the agreement, the company is investing in 1 million tonnes of CO2 removal credits from GreenTrees, the largest reforestation project in the US.
The deal is structured as a ‘staggered spot’ purchase, and it combines issued credits with the newest vintages currently in verification. This approach aims to close the financial gap between verification and payments to landowners, while simultaneously reducing delivery risk for clients and increasing certainty for developers.
ACRE Investment Management’s GreenTrees’ Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) Reforestation Project is focused on reforesting land that has been exhausted by intensive agriculture.
Located in one of North America’s most ecologically vital wetlands, the project is the first Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation (ARR) project to have issued tonnes approved under the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) – the global benchmark for high-integrity CO2 credits developed by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM).
The announcement highlights that to date, the MAV Reforestation project has removed almost 8 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere through the planting of more than 50 million trees across 140,000 acres of marginal agricultural land.
These activities have engaged a network of nearly 600 landowners located in low-income regions across the Mississippi Delta and have improved the vitality and health of local watersheds – a benefit that will last for future generations.
Additionally, the initiative has created habitats for more than 325 bird species in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley, known as America’s Amazon, and has reconnected wildlife corridors for mammal species at risk, such as the rare Louisiana black bear population.

“This commitment reflects the confidence that sophisticated corporate buyers place in projects that combine scientific rigour, community benefit, and ecological restoration,” said Chandler Van Voorhis, co-founder of the GreenTrees platform.
He added, “The carbon market is the catalyst, turning projects into scalable, sustainable enterprises to help companies achieve their climate goals while driving value and impact for marginalized landscapes and communities.”
