Flowserve Partners With ADNOC On Cutting-Edge Carbon Capture Project - Carbon Herald

Flowserve Corporation, a leading provider of flow control solutions, has been awarded a contract to furnish dry gas seals and sealing systems for an ambitious carbon capture initiative spearheaded by ADNOC.

This project, undertaken in collaboration with Celeros Flow Technology, represents a significant milestone in advancing environmentally responsible practices while delivering superior performance.

In 2023, ADNOC unveiled its ambitious plan to establish one of the largest carbon capture projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with an aim of capturing and storing an impressive 1.5 million tons of CO2 annually.

Flowserve will contribute advanced dry gas seals and sealing systems that will be integrated into Celeros’ high-pressure injection packages. This collaboration will pave the way for the first-ever continuous supercritical CO2 (sCO2) pump injection services for enhanced oil recovery.

This achievement underscores the companies’ ability to overcome complex technical challenges and deliver efficient, reliable solutions.

Lamar Duhon, President of Flowserve Pumps Division, emphasized the importance of ingenuity and teamwork in executing a project of this scale.

“Through our expertise and partnership with Celeros, we’ve developed an innovative solution that supports ADNOC’s bold decarbonization goals. Our efforts align with Flowserve’s 3D strategy to diversify, decarbonize, and digitize, showcasing our commitment to reducing global carbon emissions,” Duhon stated.

Upon completion, the high-pressure injection packages, incorporating Celeros’ cutting-edge BB5 pump technology, will effectively manage captured sCO2.

These systems will efficiently transport CO2 from ADNOC’s Habshan facility to the Bab Far North Field Development CO2 Storage Hub via a dedicated pipeline.
