Bolivia-based sustainable biochar producer Exomad Green has announced that their Riberalta plant is now officially operational.

With this announcement, Exomad sets in motion their second facility in Bolivia, following the successful operations at their inaugural plant in Concepción.

As announced by the company, the cutting-edge Riberalta plant is projected to sequester a notable 60,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, and the company will work on expanding this capacity to 120,000 tonnes by 2025.

This advancement falls in line with Exomad’s growth aspirations revealed at the Puro.earth Summit during this year’s Climate Week in New York, where the company shared plans to increase capacity to a whopping 800,000 tonnes by 2027.

The ambitious expansion agenda will unroll gradually, with one facility scheduled to launch operations by 2026 in Guarayos, Bolivia, which will be followed by another two plants projected to come online by 2027.

Standing out as a leading biochar producer on the carbon removal market, accounting for 50% of the CO2 credits generated for 2024, Exomad Green is focusing not only on tackling the issue of excess emissions in the atmosphere but also on delivering benefits to local communities and improving the environment in its area of operations.

In this regard, the Riberalta Exomad facility is expected to bring numerous green job openings to the people in the region.

Beyond this local economic boost, Exomad is also developing social programs that will focus on improving the education opportunities and healthcare services for the local community, hoping to improve the overall wellbeing in the areas around its network of plants.

With the production of biochar, a powerful decarbonization material that sequesters CO2 emissions for long periods of time, Exomad also offers this product to local farmers that can use biochar as a sustainable fertilizer to enrich the soil in their lands and increase the crop yields from agricultural activities.

In the bigger picture, through their biochar production and community protection efforts, Exomad Green has stated that the company is looking to facilitate a greener future for everyone.
