Exomad Green Announces Three New Biochar Facilities In The Works - Carbon Herald

During the Puro.earth Summit held at the Climate Week event in New York, Bolivia-based biochar producer Exomad Green announced plans to double its carbon removal capacity from 400000 tonnes to the monumental amount of 800000 tonnes by 2027.

To achieve this ambitious goal, the company will construct three new facilities that will utilize biochar technology to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

This addition, together with Exomad’s existing plants in Concepción and Riberalta, will bring the company’s operational network to a total of five facilities.

As announced by the company, this expansion will happen gradually, with one plant scheduled to come online by 2026 in Guarayos, Bolivia, followed by another two plants projected for completion by 2027.

Exomad Green has been making headlines this year as the biochar producer that provided 50% of all the biochar credits available on the market for 2024.

By scaling the production of its brand of biochar named technochar, Exomad Green is on a mission to cement its position as the world’s leading producer of this valuable decarbonization product.

But, as the company states, this mission is not about reaching a target. It’s rather focused on fostering a greener future for everyone, something Exomad strives to achieve by building carbon removal capacity through biochar.

The company helps in the global fight against climate deterioration by utilizing hardwood forestry residue, a waste material typically disposed of by incineration, to create biochar, a carbon-rich material that not only locks away emissions for thousands of years but also offers soil and crop improvements when dispersed on arable land.

Exomad Green’s decarbonization approach is centered around the wellbeing of local communities. The company enables substantial benefits for the people located in the area of its operations by contributing to better air quality and increased farm yields, a strategy that is evident in the Concepción region where Exomad’s first plant is located.

Staying true to this commitment, the company shared that they’re excited to see all the positive benefits that the new plants will bring to the locations where they are set to operate.
