Avnos has officially launched operations at its Project Brighton site in New Jersey, putting in motion its novel hybrid direct air capture (HDAC™) technology at the largest scale so far.
Located in Bridgewater, Project Brighton is designed to capture 450 tons of atmospheric carbon dioxide annually while also producing approximately 475,000 gallons of clean water each year, all through a process that doesn’t require an external heat input.
The project was developed with funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR), and it supports Avnos’ efforts towards piloting DAC-sourced CO2 for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Avnos’ innovative HDAC systems capture atmospheric CO2 and produce clean water in a single process independent from external heat, creating a solution suitable for a range of different clients, including data centers, geologic carbon storage, and next-generation fuel production.
Having locked in over $100M in funding to date from supporters such as Mitsubishi Corporation (US), Shell US Gas & Power, NextEra Energy Resources, ConocoPhillips, JetBlue Ventures, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Defense, Avnos continues to scale infrastructure solutions for a variety of commercial applications.
Project Brighton is the next step in Avnos’ growth journey that ultimately aims to scale commercial Hybrid Direct Air Capture infrastructure.

The local reaction to Project Brighton
Positioned alongside Avnos’ Technology Development Center on Milltown Road in Bridgewater, Project Brighton was also welcomed by members of New Jersey’s Somerset County.

With Brighton now operational, Avnos will leverage up to $17M secured in project financing to continue the development of Project Cedar which will deploy four HDAC modules, engineered for faster build times, greater scalability and more repeatable project delivery.
