The Ecosystem Restoration Standard (ERS) has secured new €5 million ($5.2 million) funding in a seed- extension round led by AENU and noa, with participation from existing investors, including LocalGlobe.
As the company marks its fourth year of existence, the recent financial injection brings its total funding to €12.5M ($13.2 million).
ERS will use this boost to answer the rapidly growing certification demand from nature-based project developers and end buyers.
With its Terrestrial Forest Restoration methodology being one of the most sought-after validation systems for CO2 removal credits, the company will leverage the newly acquired financial support to make sure it has the necessary workforce to meet the increased interest in its services.
As part of their growth journey, in the near future, ERS intends to increase its certification team to secure reliable levels of service as the company takes on a larger workload.
Having one of the fastest certification processes on the market, ERS is able to deliver project certification four times faster than other standards applicable to the nature-based category. With the scale-up of operations, the company will focus on preserving this key advantage.
Another focal point in the future development of ERS is the creation of new certification methodologies that will enable it to work with a wider array of projects, including mangrove and multi-strata agroforestry projects.
