Equitable Earth, the global standard for conservation and restoration projects on the carbon markets, has announced its newest Technical Advisory Board (TAB) cohort, comprised of five experts with different professional backgrounds.

Chaired by Andrea Abrahams, Senior Advisor at IETA & Independent Advisor, the TAB welcomed Olly Griffin, an independent consultant who formerly served as the Regional Nature-based Solutions Advisor at Wildlife Conservation Society, and Doctoral Researcher & Independent Consultant Luiza Maia de Castro, formerly part of Re.Green.

They are joined by Ed Mitchard (PhD), Chief Scientist and Co-founder at Space Intelligence, and Nan Pond (PhD), who acts as the Vice President of Nature-Based Solutions at Rubicon Carbon.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Equitable Earth Technical Advisory Board as the chair and getting closer to the engine room of climate mitigation and carbon credit generation,” said Abrahams.

“Without the finance for these efforts, we will not reach global net zero. Without scientific rigor and continuous improvement, we also don’t get to net zero. The work of the TAB will look deeply into these matters, and I’m thrilled to play a part,” he added.

Equitable Earth clarifies that TAB members act in their personal capacity and do not represent the organizations they work for. The biography of each member can be accessed here.

Together, the experts on the TAB bring along professional insights and expertise on remote sensing, nature-based finance, forest science, and social safeguards.

The role of the Equitable Earth Technical Advisory Board (TAB)

The role of the board will be to provide independent advice as Equitable Earth continues to pioneer new tools and approaches that are strengthening the integrity of nature-based carbon markets, helping map out the organization’s next phase of scientific and technical advancement.

TAB members will build on the groundwork laid out by Equitable Earth’s founding board, providing guidance on emerging best practices as the organization grows its work on supporting forest restoration and protection globally.

Thibault Sorret, CEO at Equitable Earth, commented, “These are leading voices in the carbon markets: people with both the expertise and the willingness to challenge us. With their input, we’ll go further and faster in leading the market and in our mission to enable projects that truly deliver for ecosystems and communities globally.”
