In a new funding round, Equitable Earth has secured approximately $14.6 million (€12.6 million) to boost its operations and accelerate the certification of nature-based climate projects.

As shared in the announcement, the round was led by a US-based family office, with participation from existing investors, including AENU and noa.

This round brings Equitable Earth’s total funding raised to date to over $29 million (€25 million), fueling its vision of becoming the global standard for nature-based carbon projects.

Thibault Sorret, CEO of Equitable Earth, commented, “Equitable Earth continues to focus on enabling organizations to protect and restore the natural world by certifying projects in a trusted, scalable way. This new round of funding allows us to continue to grow and establish ourselves as the global standard for nature-based projects.”

Founded in 2020, Equitable Earth (formerly ERS) is one of the fastest-growing, innovative certification providers for nature-based projects.

Its program has been vetted against the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)’s Core Carbon Principles (CCPs)—the market’s top quality benchmark.

According to independent carbon ratings agency Sylvera, Equitable Earth’s Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) methodology is one of the most rigorous and trustworthy ones on the market, a recognition that is soon also expected for its recently released REDD+ methodology.

To maintain this reputable status, Equitable Earth relies on a comprehensive suite of tools that ensure transparency and confidence.

These tools include a fully digital certification platform, centralized and standardized accounting, sophisticated remote sensing technology, and a strong focus on project benefits that deliver improvement for the climate, nature, and local people through meaningful community engagement.

With the newly secured funding, Equitable Earth will allocate resources to further enhance the technology and tools behind its platform, grow its team and reach, and increase the market’s supply of high-integrity nature-based carbon credits by certifying millions of additional hectares.
