Ocean-based carbon removal company Equatic is pressing the pedal towards gigaton removal levels by appointing new company leadership and a new Science Advisory board, further fortifying its Industry Advisory board with an expert sustainability addition.
These changes come as the company prepares to deliver the world’s largest ocean-based CO2 removal plant, aiming to provide cost-effective carbon removal services at a price of less than $30 per tonne by the end of the decade.
As part of this next chapter, the company will now be spearheaded by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edward Sanders, who took this role after serving as Equatic’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).
With a strong background in climate and vast experience in consulting, launching, and scaling up commercial operations for a booming aviation brand, Sanders is set to catalyze further expansion and growth for Equatic.
The company also welcomed Jarred W. Guthrie as Chief Project Officer, trusting him with the task to develop and execute the company’s broader strategy for project development.
Guthrie will be in charge of forming the growth trajectory of Equatic and enriching its portfolio of projects, responsibilities entrusted to him due to a rich track record of leadership roles in the hydrogen and renewable energy industries, including a leading position in global energy projects for Shell.
On its Industry Advisory Board (IAB), Equatic introduced sustainable engineering expert Dame Dervilla Mitchell, who up until recently served as Deputy Chair of Arup Group.
Dame Mitchell joins a cohort of prominent IAB members, including Chair Lord John Browne, Edward Muller, Catherine McKenna, Peter Relan, Caitlyn Fox, Jérôme Schmitt, and Craig Cogut.
To monitor for responsible and meaningful carbon removal efforts, Equatic also put together its first Science Advisory Board (SAB), consisting of eight academia and public sector members.
The SAB was introduced to advise and support the company’s Management Team, Board of Directors and IAB as they drive operations towards high-quality CO2 removal solutions.
