Power generation group Drax and C-Zero Markets have signed an agreement to remove a total of 2,000 metric tons of CO2. 

This deal signifies a major advancement in the implementation of bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) technology within the United States. 

The finalized contract, which builds upon a previous agreement, emphasizes the rising demand for trustworthy and verifiable carbon credits in the marketplace.

Laurie Fitzmaurice, President of Carbon Removals at Drax, commented that, “Demand for credible carbon removals is climbing as compliance deadlines approach.” 

This same thought is echoed by Mike Ridler, CEO of C-Zero, who highlights that partnering with Drax will focus on advancing carbon removal technologies crucial for achieving decarbonization targets.

Drax’s strategic expansion includes new BECCS projects aimed at removing over 6 million tons of CO2 per year, positioning the company as a leader in the global carbon capture market.
