CUR8 – a platform provider helping customers create carbon removal portfolios from reliable projects, announced its latest partnership. The company will provide Pension Insurance Corporation plc (PIC) – a specialist UK insurer, with a diversified carbon removal portfolio to neutralize its operational emissions in line with climate commitments and as ‌part of a longer-term strategy to be net zero by 2050. 

The Pension Insurance Corporation is a member of the United Nations’ convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance – a member-led initiative of institutional investors committed to transitioning their investment portfolios to net zero by 2050, in line with the Paris agreement goal of limiting temperature rise to up to 1.5°C.

The insurer also aims to reduce its investment portfolio’s carbon intensity by 50% by 2030. It has set a target to be carbon neutral across its operations by 2025. Additionally, the company has committed £1 billion ($1.26bn) in renewable energy investments. 

The carbon removals portfolio built by CUR8 aligns with the latest guidance from both the Oxford Offsetting Principles and the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF). CUR8 is a company founded in 2021 with the mission to assist clients in building their carbon removal strategies.
