CUR8, a platform specializing in carbon removal intelligence, has closed its seed funding round, spearheaded by Airbus Ventures and joined by existing backers GV (Google Ventures) and CapitalT. The announcement came during New York Climate Week at Goals House.
The new capital strengthens CUR8’s position as a key architect of the emerging infrastructure for the global carbon dioxide removal (CDR) market, which analysts predict could reach a trillion-dollar scale. CUR8 collaborates with companies across sectors including aviation, finance, consumer goods, and construction, offering tools that help clients like British Airways, Standard Chartered Bank, and Coca‑Cola HBC achieve their net-zero objectives.
Marta Krupinska, CEO & Co-Founder of CUR8, said: “Building a new trillion dollar industry requires bold bets, and to date we’ve seen both Big Tech and aviation lead the way in removals. We are delighted with this vote of confidence from Airbus Ventures, alongside our existing investors, GV (Google Ventures) and CapitalT. It clearly points to the business value in investing in carbon removal, and the financial opportunity in shaping the infrastructure for this new industry.”
Carbon removal on the rise
This fundraising milestone coincides with notable international policy support for carbon removal. The UK has included CDR in its Emissions Trading Scheme, Germany has earmarked €50 million for carbon removal projects, and Singapore has begun public procurement of CDR. Far from slowing, demand for carbon removal is on pace to surpass $8–10 billion in 2025—three times the total recorded in 2024.
Organizations now face a fragmented landscape with over 20 removal methods, more than 2,000 project developers, and evolving standards. CUR8 aims to simplify this complexity by providing a platform that allows companies to plan, purchase, and manage high-quality removals, while directing investment toward leading project developers.
After launching its offtake financing product and corporate planning tool earlier this year, CUR8 plans to use the new funds to accelerate product development, expand its carbon finance services, and scale internationally to meet the surging need for verifiable net-zero solutions.
