Cowboy Clean Fuels, Absolute Climate, and Evident are joining forces in a partnership that will bring new high-integrity carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits to market.
As a climate tech company, Cowboy Clean Fuels specializes in carbon-neutral renewable natural gas and permanent CO2 sequestration.
Through the newly announced partnership, the company will certify its carbon removal projects under Absolute Climate’s Absolute Carbon Standard (ACS), which enables system-level accounting.
The credits will be issued through the C-Capsule registry developed by Evident, which is recognized for its clean energy certification services and leverages robust expertise, standards, and world-class registry technology in its operations.
By combining knowledge and tech assets, the three partnering companies will offer buyers a new class of CDR credits designed to meet the latest quality, traceability, and verification expectations.
Cowboy Clean Fuels develops infrastructure that converts agricultural waste material into zero-emissions renewable natural gas (RNG) while permanently sequestering carbon in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin.

Peter Minor, co-founder and CEO of Absolute Climate, explains that CDR is entering a mass-scale phase where projects are judged by how clearly their outcomes can be demonstrated.
He highlights that Cowboy Clean Fuels is a great example of CDR 2.0, but the initiative comes with extra complexity around how to scope the project so that emissions are correctly accounted for in each product.
The Absolute Carbon Standard measures how CO2 fluxes move through complex industrial systems, tracking what is captured, stored, and emitted to produce a certified net emissions figure. It sets requirements for measurement, risk management, and independent verification, providing a consistent basis for evaluating project outcomes.
By tracking CO2 flows across the full system, this approach enables projects like Cowboy Clean Fuels to account for both CDR and RNG production, ensuring that each outcome reflects its true atmospheric impact.
