ClimeFi, a portfolio manager for durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR), announced that it has partnered with the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition to provide buyers with streamlined access to credits from the winners and finalists in the contest.
Through this collaboration, ClimeFi brings to the market a single, diversified portfolio of novel CDR solutions, granting buyers simplified access to the industry’s foremost innovations.
Funded by the MUSK Foundation, the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition was created to catalyze the development of gigaton-scalable CDR solutions that tackle CO2 through air, rocks, ocean, and land pathways.
In April 2025, the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition announced the winners of the $100 million award fund, where enhanced rock weathering company Mati Carbon took the grand prize of $50 million, while NetZero was awarded $15 million, Vaulted Deep $8 million, and UNDO Carbon $5 million.
The ClimeFi XPRIZE Portfolio also includes trailblazing carbon removal developed by some of the competition’s finalists, who also meet the bold quality and scaling potential requirements of the XPRIZE Foundation.
Through this offering, buyers can invest in CDR arranged by ClimeFi with pre-negotiated contractual terms while taking advantage of a lowered minimum purchase amount that provides a carbon removal gateway for a wider range of purchasers.
ClimeFi highlights that by choosing to engage with this initiative, buyers would support the delivery of a steady stream of more than 50,000 tonnes of carbon removal by 2030.
