ClimAccelerator, an EU-co-funded carbon removal accelerator established in 2021, has rebranded as remove.
The non-profit program has supported over 60 European carbon removal companies in the past two years. Following the rebrand, remove will further enhance its startup ecosystem building and acceleration efforts, with the support of knowledge partner ETH Zurich’s Sustainability in Business Lab and founding partners The Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, Carbon Removal Partners and the DOEN Foundation.
Co-established by Marian Krüger and Hans Westerhof, remove provides a two-stage accelerator for early-stage carbon dioxide removal (CDR) startups. The program introduces founders to the CDR network, connects them to ecosystem stakeholders, and provides advice on individual challenges. Both stages of the accelerator provide funding and access to domain experts.

The deadline to apply for this year’s cohort is May 5, 2023. This year, remove has opened its carbon removal community, which was previously only available to program participants and alumni, to everyone in the CDR space.
“With the urgent need for carbon dioxide removal solutions, we’re excited double down on our commitment the European CDR space with the launch of remove”, said Marian Krüger, co-founder of remove. „Our accelerator program offers a unique opportunity for founders to connect with industry experts and gain valuable insights to address their individual challenges, while also being part of building a strong CDR ecosystem in Europe.“
remove is the first European accelerator that focuses entirely on carbon removal. Its two-stage 9-month program offers EUR 50,000 ($54,617) in funding and access to 65 alumni companies.
