Cleanova Introduces New, Customizable C-clean Carbon Filtration Technology - Carbon Herald

Cleanova, a developer of filtration technology, has introduced an innovative, customizable filtering solution for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) systems.

The newly released C-clean offering represents a mechanism that is able to adapt to different CCUS installations, enabling cost-effective project optimization.

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies collect CO2 at the source of emissions. Once captured, the carbon dioxide can either be stored or repurposed for application in new products.

In both of these scenarios, the captured CO2 needs to be filtered from solid and liquid contaminants. Cleanova specializes in creating filters that successfully eliminate unwanted material from the captured carbon dioxide, enhancing the effectiveness of different CCUS structures.

Their C-clean product can be adjusted to the needs of different, specific projects, potentially saving space and relying on fewer resources to optimize performance and efficiency, leading to reduced waste from operations, lower capital investment, and a drop in operational costs.

Using Uniq-Max high-capacity filters, the technology prevents the plugging of absorbers by removing suspended particles from feed gases. To ensure solvent purity, it also includes liquid and gas coalescers, along with activated carbon filters that take out clear hydrocarbons and contaminants. Additionally, oil mist eliminators clean the exhaust air.

The technology can be used for the co-development of customized carbon capture solutions, where it can be tailored to different varying factors such as CO2 concentration, the type of the emission source, the presence of other contaminants, temperature, and pressure.

Pointing out that every CCUS project has its own distinct needs, Chris Nixon, Cleanova’s engineering and products director, emphasized the need for cooperation between project developers and filtration experts in order to achieve optimal results.

Nixon commented, “Cleanova C-Clean supports our overarching mission to enable clean environments through innovative filtration solutions. Our radical new approach makes it easier for CCUS customers to access the expert advice, ongoing support, and appropriate filtration technologies they need to achieve their decarbonization ambitions.”
