Nature-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) developer Chestnut Carbon has appointed Brian DiMarino as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Carrying a rich background in finance and business management, DiMarino will take on this new role after serving as the managing director and deputy director of global sustainability, strategy, and operations at JPMorgan Chase.
This strategic appointment further enhances Chestnut Carbon’s team of experts, comprised of savants from different walks of life, including land management, forestry, environment, carbon regulation, and finance.
With DiMarino as COO, the carbon removal company will work to scale the impact and reach of its US-based forest CO2 removal operations.
Commenting on this new chapter, Brian DiMarino stated, “I’m honored to step into this new role and excited to help drive real change at scale alongside the talented team at Chestnut Carbon.”
He went on to add, “I’m energized and eager to take on new challenges with a company that’s both passionate about delivering the highest-integrity nature-based carbon projects and purpose-built to get the job done.”
On behalf of Chestnut Carbon, CEO Ben Dell shared that the company is thrilled to welcome DiMarino onboard. “His proven track record in sustainability and operational leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow and deliver verifiable, additional forest carbon offsets that help industries accelerate their path to net-zero,” Dell added.
Established in 2022, Chestnut Carbon is focused on creating forest carbon offset projects by collaborating with family-owned forestlands and marginal crop and pasturelands.

The company uses a proprietary technology to measure the CDR achieved via its projects, generating high-quality carbon credits that follow the Gold Standard measurement and verification criteria.
In the beginning of 2025, Chestnut also issued its first Improved Forest Management (IFM) credits from the Forest Carbon Works membership program, which were audited and verified by Verra.
During its three years of existence, the company locked in partnerships with a number of industry giants, including Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, and the Mercedes Formula 1 team.
Going forward, Chestnut Carbon will continue working on positioning itself as a leading provider on the international CO2 market.
