Chart Industries, Inc. (NYSE: GTLS) and Wolf Carbon Solutions U.S. LLC (an affiliate of Wolf Midstream) have expanded their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Chart’s Cryogenic Carbon Capture technology.

Howden Equipment (a Chart Industries company) will be joining the partnership to provide rotating equipment that can be utilized in carbon capture.

“We are extremely pleased to expand our relationship with Wolf Carbon Solutions, US, LLC both from leveraging our carbon capture solutions and now, with this MOU expansion, inclusive of utilizing Howden’s flue gas boosters for CCUS technologies, compressors for energy efficiency, rotating adsorption machines, and CO2 compressors,” stated Jill Evanko, Chart’s CEO and President. “Together with Wolf, we will work to expand coverage of CO2 emitters in more regions to support Wolf’s national strategic growth initiatives, inclusive of Wolf’s CO2 distribution and transportation services.”

The projects will be located at host sites along Wolf’s Mt. Simon Hub CO2 pipeline which runs from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to central Illinois. The route provides access to heavy greenhouse gas emitters and reaches an addressable market of refineries, cement, stell, lime and other industries.

Through the pipeline system these hard-to-abate industrial sites will be able to capture CO2 at its source, transport it and ultimately sequester it at the Mt. Simon Hub with the help of Chart’s technology.

By combining the existing project with Howden carbon capture solutions, Chart Industries and Wolf Carbon Solutions will be able to expand the reach of the project in terms of client type. Now both high-purity CO2 emitters and lower-concentration post-combustion CO2 sources will be able to connect to the system and take advantage of its decarbonization capability.
