Certified carbon standard Cercarbono has begun the assessment process with the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) to become a Core Carbon Principle (CCP) Eligible Program.
This will demonstrate Cercarbono’s commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and transparency in the voluntary carbon market (VCM), according to a company statement, made last week.
Conducted under ICVCM’s rigorous Assessment Framework, the evaluation will examine Cercarbono’s adherence to key CCP criteria, including governance, transparency, accurate emissions reduction quantification, and sustainable development benefits.
This evaluation aims to assure stakeholders that Cercarbono’s carbon credits represent verifiable and impactful climate action.

Headquartered in Bogota, Colombia, Cercarbono has certified over 200 global projects across more than 15 countries.
Its mission focuses on elevating underserved communities and ensuring that financial flows from environmental markets benefit regions in need.
By engaging in ICVCM’s evaluation, Cercarbono aims to enhance its role in promoting equitable climate solutions and environmental integrity.
The CCP framework, established as the first global benchmark for high-integrity carbon credits, aims to build trust in the VCM and enable its growth.
By meeting the CCP criteria, Cercarbono moves closer to issuing CCP-labeled credits, representing genuine emissions reductions with biodiversity and sustainable development benefits.
The results of Cercarbono’s evaluation will be made publicly available on the ICVCM website, offering transparent insights into their alignment with these rigorous standards.
