CDR.fyi and OPIS, a Dow Jones Company, have launched the 2025 Durable CDR Pricing Survey, aiming to get a better understanding of the perspectives of both carbon dioxide removal (CDR) buyers and suppliers on the current market.
The survey comes a year after the two companies published a joint whitepaper named “Bridging the Gap,” which offered a clearer picture of the way buyers and suppliers were thinking about pricing in an early durable CDR market.
Since then, CDR conversations have evolved beyond the sustainability perspective and into procurement, finance, and risk discussions.
As the field advanced, financing conditions began shaping projects, and the verification infrastructure continued developing and maturing, yet many interested entities are still uncertain on when and how to engage with CDR opportunities.
The 2025 CDR survey will analyze the accumulated information and provide answers on what drives CDR decisions, delving into the factors most valuable to buyers and the attributes that suppliers can charge a premium for.
One of the main puzzles this effort looks to unravel is what is blocking the scaling of participation on both the buyer and supplier sides.
The survey questions cover topics related to future price expectations in different CDR pathways, the role of quality and delivery reliability, insurance, contracting structures, and the absence or presence of policy and standards incentives.

CDR.fyi and OPIS are looking to hear from purchasers and providers of durable carbon dioxide removal. To that end, they have released a survey for suppliers and a separate one for buyers.
Participants that provide answers will receive access to the full survey results, which will be shared openly with the market.
By choosing to provide information in this survey, CDR stakeholders would be contributing towards an enhanced transparency and trust in this decarbonization sector that requires both of these factors to grow to climate-relevant levels responsibly.
