Climate consultancy Carbonsink, part of global carbon asset leader South Pole, is partnering with Italy’s largest bank, Intesa Sanpaolo, to launch CO2 Mitigation Solutions—a major initiative to enhance corporate sustainability.
The program targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the bank’s portfolio, offering them a digital tool developed by Carbonsink.
This platform enables companies to measure their carbon emissions, define science-based emissions reduction pathways aligned with the GHG Protocol, and implement practical decarbonization measures.
It also includes financial support for international climate mitigation projects.
This joint initiative by Carbonsink and Intesa Sanpaolo reflects a growing trend in sustainable finance, where banks actively support clients in meeting climate goals.
CO2 Mitigation Solutions empowers companies with the tools to take real climate action, backed by innovative digital technology, said Andrea Maggiani, Founder of Carbonsink.
According to South Pole’s recent Net Zero Report, 78% of financial institutions across Europe, including Italy, find companies with transition plans more appealing.
Furthermore, 44% intend to increase investment in businesses committed to net zero strategies over the next decade.
Supporting clients on their sustainability journey is becoming critical for financial institutions looking to reduce climate risk and deliver meaningful emissions cuts.
