This week, the Carbon to Value Initiative (C2V Initiative), a collaboration between Urban Future Lab, Greentown Labs, and Fraunhofer USA, launched the fifth edition of its Carbontech Accelerator Program.
Following four successful previous runs, the accelerator program is again looking to back promising carbontech innovations, narrowly focused on startups with a technology readiness level (TRL) between 4 and 7.
Eligible solutions are those focused on carbon conversion into value-added products, carbon capture, sequestration, or CO2 removal, or technologies that enable carbon tech solutions.
Specifically, the accelerator program is looking to support innovators converting CO2 into fuels, chemicals, or other materials or extracting value from carbon-rich waste.
Companies that tackle CO2 through point-source capture, Direct Air Capture (DAC), Direct Ocean Capture (DOC), Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS), marine carbon removal, Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), or are developing gas-separation technologies are also eligible to apply.
Other potential candidates include startups working on hardware for measuring, reporting, and verification (MRV) or hardware that enhances the CO2 capture or conversion process.
The C2V Initiative highlights that this is a general overview of eligible categories, and a more detailed list can be found in the request for applications.
The program will be accepting applications by Aug. 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET, and approved applicants will be enrolled in a six-month program starting in December 2025 that will include in-person events in Boston, New York, and Houston, along with virtual consulting.

Each startup selected for the accelerator program will receive a $10,000 stipend, customized programming, and engagement with the CLC—a limited-access group of carbontech leaders active in the corporate, nonprofit, and government domains that will provide mentorship to approved applicants.
This year, the CLC welcomes two new members, coming from L’Oréal and TotalEnergies.
The newcomers join a cohort of existing CLC mentors that boasts industry frontrunners like Carbon180, Caterpillar Inc., the Consulate General of Canada in New York, CO₂ Value Europe, Energy Impact Partners, Evonik, Fluor, Johnson Matthey, Shell, Veolia, W.L. Gore & Associates, and XPRIZE.
