Carbon Herald & Carbon Business Council Join Forces To Amplify Carbon Management News - Carbon Herald

The Carbon Herald, the leading independent news outlet for the carbon management industry will be combining its forces with the Carbon Business Council (CO2BC). The news was first reported in Axios.

The CO2BC is a non-profit trade association representing over 100 carbon removal and management companies worldwide, with combined assets exceeding $16.5 billion.

“Reaching gigaton scale carbon removal requires telling the story of carbon removal and management so that policymakers, investors, and communities have the latest and most accurate information on hand,” said Ben Rubin, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Carbon Business Council.

“By partnering the carbon management industry’s leading trade publication with the sector’s leading trade association, we can more effectively accomplish this goal.”

Under the new agreement, Ben Rubin will assume the role of Publisher for the Carbon Herald while Vasil Velev will continue as Editor-in-Chief and become a member of the Council’s Board of Advisors.

“The Carbon Business Council has built a coalition of leading suppliers removing and managing carbon dioxide. By combining forces, we’re excited to report on the stories of the innovators who are leading the way on making gigaton scale carbon removal a reality,” said Vasil Velev, Editor in Chief at the Carbon Herald.

Storm King Holdings, a specialized investment firm focusing on media ventures, provided exclusive advisory services for both entities during this transaction.

Combining Forces To Maximize Reach

The collaboration will offer the Carbon Herald access to a wider audience, valuable market insights, and new avenues for amplifying sponsorships. This will also enable the outlet  to expand coverage in the three main areas that are currently a focus – CO2 removal, capture and the carbon markets.

The agreement comes after the Carbon Herald experienced a remarkable growth rate of over 200% in 2023, reaching over 315,000 influential carbon management professionals and mirroring the expansion of the industry.

Launched in 2021, the Carbon Herald has become the primary source for daily carbon management news. As an industry outlet we have attracted an audience including policymakers, investors, energy industry professionals, carbon removal suppliers, scientists, and experts from non-profit organizations across the globe.

The publication will maintain its editorial independence from the Carbon Business Council. Additional initiatives focused on maximizing the reach and impact of carbon removal and management storytelling are expected to be unveiled in the coming months.

The Carbon Herald will continue its commitment to daily news reporting, a weekly newsletter, and a podcast with a mission that remains unchanged: delivering news and insight about the key companies and leaders driving large-scale climate action through carbon management.
