Carbon Clean has entered into a strategic partnership with two leading Danish district heating companies, Sønderborg Varme and Thisted Varmeforsyning, to explore potential opportunities for carbon capture in Denmark.
The collaboration will focus on applying for funding from the Danish Energy Agency’s CCS Fund.
This partnership enables Carbon Clean to investigate the deployment of its carbon capture technology in Denmark, a country that has positioned itself at the forefront of decarbonizing heavy industry in Europe.
Denmark has introduced a series of progressive policies over the past year, which support this transition.
Under the terms of the agreement, Carbon Clean will focus on implementing its advanced CycloneCC carbon capture technology at three selected energy-from-waste facilities, with assistance from Scandinavian Energy Contractors (SEC).
The initiative aims to capture more than 100,000 tons of CO2 annually, aligning with Denmark’s ambitious goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 2.3 million tons each year by 2030.
Preparatory work is already in progress to establish the project delivery model, assess regulatory requirements, and coordinate technical integration with various suppliers across the value chain.
