The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and EPC specialist Carbon Circle AS has secured a multi-million-pound equity investment from Amplus Energy Services Ltd. in the UK. The proceeds from the capital raise will be allocated to support the establishment and operation of Carbon Circle UK Limited, a new carbon capture business based in Aberdeen.
Carbon Circle is already established in the Norwegian carbon capture sectors and the new entity Carbon Circle UK is poised to drive the emerging carbon capture market in the UK with the aim to become a major energy transition employer in Aberdeen.
“We are excited by our partnership with Amplus Energy, a collaboration set to enhance the growth and innovation of the carbon capture sector in the UK. The UK government’s significant commitment of £20 billion to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a testament to the strategic importance of CCS technologies in achieving national net-zero ambitions. With the support and expertise of Amplus Energy, Carbon Circle is ready to be a major contributor in the UK’s carbon capture sector”, says Aslak Hjelde, CEO of Carbon Circle.
Amplus Energy has established itself as a provider of global field development services and possess deep domain knowledge and wide-ranging contacts within the UK energy industry that will add significant support to the growth of Carbon Circle UK. The company’s services cover all aspects from project launch to completion, including investment and financial solutions.
“Amplus are excited by this opportunity to participate within the Energy Transition in the UK through bringing our client focused, innovative approach to project delivery coupled with the “best-in-class” domain knowledge and significant EPC experience already assembled within Carbon Circle. The creation of Carbon Circle UK brings a new, innovative Carbon Capture EPC partner into a UK market with huge potential.” says Ian Herd, Managing Director at Amplus Energy.
Carbon Circle is a provider of energy transition solutions covering all facets of EPC projects and is already working on front end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the de-carbonisation of two major industrial sites in the UK. Established in 2022, Carbon Circle is wholly owned by Green Transition Holding (GTH), a developer, owner, and operator of clean energy infrastructure. Carbon Circle has secured significant orders in both Norway and Canada and is currently in the process of raising additional growth capital to further expand its operations and fund working capital requirements.
