Carbon Business Council Now Offering Pathway-Specific CDR Support

Carbon Business Council Now Offering Pathway-Specific CDR Support - Carbon Herald

The Carbon Business Council (CO2BC) platform is now offering pathway-specific support for different carbon dioxide removal (CDR) approaches in an aim to stimulate the scaling of this industry.

To be able to effectively deploy carbon removal efforts and unlock gigaton CO2 removal levels, the sector will need to utilize a wide portfolio of approaches like the ones based on air, land, rock, and water, where each approach will contribute towards time-sensitive climate results.

Recognizing this need for a multifaceted and united carbon removal front, the Carbon Business Council is setting out to dedicate focused attention and support to each separate carbon removal approach.

In turn, this pathway-focused support will drive progress across each one of the different CDR pillars comprising the carbon removal sector, collectively contributing to industry-wide growth.

Backed by a team of more than 100 member companies representing every major carbon removal approach, the Carbon Business Council “horizontal” coalition is uniquely positioned to deliver this offering tailored in alignment with the needs of different CDR pathways.

Highlighting diversity as the biggest asset of the carbon removal field, CO2BC has allocated spaces within the coalition to support and connect communities focused on specific CDR approaches.

Through a series of pathway-specific initiatives, the CO2BC platform has grouped communities that will drive collaboration, curated resources, and targeted policy engagement, while maintaining a strong connection through the shared coalition.

CO2BC Executive Director Ben Rubin stated, “Formalizing pathway-specific verticals within our horizontal coalition model is about building momentum across the full carbon removal landscape.”

He added, “We’re working to provide the unique support that each pathway needs to scale, while connecting them in ways that help the entire field move forward with clarity, credibility, and speed.”

Besides spurring growth in each CDR pathway, this initiative will also help broaden the cross-technology cooperation within the sector, as each specific pathway can unravel insights that can prove helpful to more than one approach.

Knowledge-sharing across aspects like policy and measurement practices, deployment models, and community engagement can lead to transformative innovations that can accelerate the advancement of the carbon removal industry.

The CO2BC platform is set to roll out the pathway-specific support offerings in the upcoming weeks.
