Capsol Technologies ASA has announced progress on two US-based engineering studies that mark a key step forward for carbon capture projects already included in its mature development pipeline as of Q1 2025.
These initiatives, collectively targeting up to 900,000 metric tons of CO2 capture annually, reflect growing momentum behind the company’s proprietary technologies.
The two projects under evaluation involve a low-emissions natural gas power plant and a Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) facility.
Each study will explore how Capsol’s solutions — CapsolGT® and CapsolEoP® — can be optimally integrated, evaluating criteria such as cost-effectiveness, environmental benefits, regulatory compliance, and operational feasibility.
Capsol’s mature pipeline surpassed 22 million tons of annual CO2 capture capacity by the close of Q1 2025, representing more than 70% growth compared to the previous year.
The expansion is attributed to several drivers, including a final investment decision on a major biomass carbon capture project, rising interest from corporations with multiple industrial sites, and broader funding activity across the sector.

If projects within the mature pipeline proceed under standard licensing agreements, Capsol estimates their long-term revenue potential could exceed NOK 3 billion (~$300 million).
“These studies are important strategic footholds in the US, where commercial momentum for carbon capture is continuing,” said Wendy Lam, CEO of Capsol Technologies.
“They strengthen our position in gas power and biomass – two distinct and strategically important segments – and underscore the trust placed in our engineering capabilities during the early phases of major decarbonization initiatives.”
