Capsol Secures Feasibility Study For German Cement Plant - Carbon Herald

Capsol Technologies has been selected to conduct a feasibility study for its CapsolEoP carbon capture technology at a cement facility in Germany. The plant aims to capture a significant 400,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Wendy Lam, CEO of Capsol Technologies, expressed enthusiasm for this award, stating, ““We are pleased to be awarded our sixth engineering study for carbon capture on a cement plant. It is inspiring to work with industry players that have clear emission targets.”

“With this study, Capsol continues to build a position as a preferred carbon capture technology provider for the cement industry,” Lam said.

Carbon capture is widely recognized as the most effective method for decarbonizing cement production, as up to 60% of emissions originate from the conversion of calcium carbonate to clinker.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that the cement industry will capture 170 million tons of CO2 by 2030, escalating to 480 million tons by 2035 and 1.3 billion tons by 2050, driving progress toward a net-zero future.

Capsol’s current project pipeline, encompassing large-scale cement projects in engineering study phases and CapsolGo® demonstration campaigns, has the potential to capture approximately 8 million tons of CO2 annually.

The feasibility study will contribute to Capsol Technologies’ project pipeline in the third quarter of 2024.
