The Government of Canada is investing nearly $16 million in a suite of clean energy initiatives across the Maritime provinces, aiming to deliver more reliable, affordable, and low-emission power to communities in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
Announced by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson, the funding will support a range of projects focused on electricity grid modernization, renewable energy expansion, and carbon capture technology.
The goal: to foster economic growth, create high-quality jobs, and advance Canada’s clean energy future across Atlantic Canada.
Key initiatives backed by the investment include:
- Upgrading power grids to improve reliability and integrate more renewable energy;
- Developing carbon capture and clean tech solutions to reduce industrial emissions;
- Scaling up wind and solar energy projects to boost regional generation capacity;
- Supporting Indigenous, rural, and remote communities through clean energy deployments that promote economic reconciliation.

The federal government emphasized that the projects reflect extensive collaboration with provincial governments, Indigenous partners, offshore regulators, and industry stakeholders to ensure alignment with local needs.
These investments reinforce Canada’s broader climate and energy agenda — lowering power costs for Canadians, strengthening the grid, reducing emissions, and creating a more resilient and inclusive energy system.
“Our government’s vision is clear: to make Canada a clean and conventional energy superpower. In collaboration with governments, Indigenous partners and the energy sector, we are investing in energy innovation to get more energy to market while tackling climate change,” Hodgson said.
