BUSE Gases Limited said earlier this week that it has entered a decade-long offtake agreement with Acorn Bioenergy, signaling a major step forward in sustainable gas sourcing.
The agreement will see BUSE Gases purchase biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) from Acorn’s anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Winchester, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to environmental innovation.
The captured biogenic CO2—produced through the breakdown of organic materials—is a renewable alternative to traditionally sourced CO2.
It will be distributed to sectors such as food and beverage, agriculture, and manufacturing, where demand for eco-friendly carbon solutions continues to grow.

Key beneficiaries of this sustainable CO2 include food and beverage (supporting carbonation and preservation processes), agriculture (enhancing plant growth with a cleaner carbon source), and manufacturing (helping industries reduce their environmental impact).

In preparation, BUSE Gases is expanding its distribution network, developing educational resources for clients, and investing in research and development (R&D) to uncover new applications for biogenic CO2.
