Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV), a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has entered into a partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), a prominent shipbuilding and offshore engineering company.
This collaboration aims to drive the development of Floating CO2 Storage Units (FCSU) and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects within the Republic of Korea, ultimately contributing to a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The focus of this partnership lies in validating and certifying cutting-edge CCS technologies that prioritize both cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
By combining BV’s expertise in certification with SHI’s innovative and market-leading technologies, the two companies aim to establish new industry standards and expedite the implementation of CCS solutions that foster a greener and more efficient future.
Furthermore, BV and SHI will collaborate on pilot projects to evaluate the commercial viability of CCS technologies.
BV will leverage its certification expertise to conduct technical reviews and independent risk assessments. Additionally, they will undertake environmental studies and develop comprehensive risk management plans to ensure the safety and sustainability of all CCS projects.
