Bloomberg and General Index (GX) have expanded their strategic collaboration, providing Bloomberg Terminal users with access to over 200 voluntary carbon price assessments, according to a joint statement by the two companies.
This enhancement builds on Bloomberg’s existing commodities data, including solutions like Commodity Spot Prices {SPOT<GO>}.
The new dataset includes transparent carbon credit price baskets, offering insights into voluntary carbon markets (VCM). It features 69 spot prices and 133 spread and rolling average indexes, delivering detailed market granularity.
The GX benchmarks aggregate VCM trade data and categorize prices by risk rating, scheme, technology, vintage, and location, helping market participants track pricing trends across different segments.
“Increased volatility due to macro and geopolitical events will continue to drive investor demand for commodities price transparency and market intelligence particularly focused on evolving markets like voluntary carbon,” said Emilie Gallagher, Global Head of Commodities, FX, and Macroeconomics at Bloomberg.

GX’s data, accessible via {SPOT<GO>}, reflects both shifting trading patterns and established pricing benchmarks.
In addition to Bloomberg Terminal access, users can integrate GX data into enterprise systems via Bloomberg Data License and B-PIPE, Bloomberg’s real-time market data feed.
Diane Charnock, Vice President of Corporate Development at General Index, said: “By expanding our strategic collaboration with Bloomberg, we are ensuring that market participants have access to high-quality, data-led price assessments that provide insights into this evolving space.”
With this collaboration, Bloomberg and GX provide traders, investors, and businesses with the data necessary to navigate the VCM with confidence, reinforcing their commitment to delivering trusted financial information.
