BKV And Comstock Partner On Carbon Capture Plans At Texas Gas Facilities - Carbon Herald

BKV Corporation and Comstock Resources have signed a preliminary, non-binding agreement to pursue carbon capture projects at two of Comstock’s natural gas processing plants in Texas, signaling a joint push toward lower-carbon operations in the Haynesville shale region.

The collaboration is set to combine BKV’s technical know-how in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) with Comstock’s extensive infrastructure in an area strategically positioned to serve both domestic energy needs and international liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets via the Gulf Coast.

As part of the proposed initiative, the companies plan to develop CCUS injection wells aimed at permanently storing carbon dioxide emissions from Comstock’s Bethel and Marquez facilities.

BKV CEO Chris Kalnin emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, saying: “BKV is proud to bring our proven track record to the table as we deliver innovative solutions that meet rising energy demand while managing carbon emissions.”

“We view carbon capture as essential to the future of responsible energy, and this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability and the long-term viability of natural gas. We are excited about what we can achieve together,” Kalnin said.

While the agreement remains in early stages, the companies expect to finalize a binding deal following further negotiations.

There is also potential for the collaboration to expand beyond the initial two sites.
