Carbon ratings agency BeZero announced that it has acquired Cedar, a platform that automates complex sustainability workflows.
With this move, BeZero is fortifying its offerings against a backdrop of growing demand for expert-led ratings that enable informed purchase decisions.
According to the announcement, BeZero is also welcoming Cedar’s founding team within its organization.
Cedar has positioned itself as a highly regarded platform for automating complex sustainability workflows that swiftly and rigorously turns messy, fragmented data into structured, auditable insights.
The company is now joining BeZero’s existing portfolio, comprised of carbon ratings and the BeZero Carbon Markets platform.
Through the BeZero Carbon Markets platform, subscribers gain access to BeZero’s full ratings analysis. This offering comes with a suite of self-service data and analytical tools, such as an AI assistant, pre-rating scorecards, and geospatial tooling.
By using these tools, users can evaluate the risk of a carbon project in their own terms. BeZero has highlighted that moving forward, it will work on expanding the self-service offerings for its subscribers as it focuses on constructing more sophisticated due-diligence processes.
Cedar will help accelerate the work towards this goal. “This acquisition will offer our customers better tools to access insights, interrogate data, and have greater confidence when making investment decisions,” said Tommy Ricketts, CEO and co-founder of BeZero Carbon.

“The technology they’ve built is truly market-leading. We look forward to integrating their capabilities to enhance and expand the BeZero Carbon Markets Platform,” Ricketts stated.
As for Bezero’s ratings business, the company confirmed that it will continue offering the service of rating any project, at any stage, and in any market, led by deep and expert analysis.
In that regard, BeZero shared, ”Our team of expert analysts will continue to be the cornerstone of our company and the foundation of what makes our work credible.”
