Carbon removal company Avnos officially launched its state-of-the-art research and development facility in Bridgewater, NJ.
This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to combat climate change through innovative technologies.
The new facility is set to become the testing ground for Avnos’ cutting-edge hybrid direct air capture (HDAC™) technology, which aims to efficiently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
By leveraging advanced engineering and scientific research, Avnos intends to refine its HDAC systems and optimize their performance. The knowledge gained from the Bridgewater R&D facility will be applied at Avnos’ first operational commercial pilot plant located in Bakersfield, CA.
Avnos stands out as a recognized leader in the carbon removal sector due to its original technology.
Its HDAC™ method effectively pulls carbon from the air while simultaneously generating water. This novel process can yield 5 tons of liquid distilled water for every ton of CO2 captured, in contrast to the 5-10 tons of water typically required per ton of CO2 extracted by other DAC methods.
This technology enables Avnos to utilize a unique moisture-swing carbon adsorbent material, which removes the requirement for heat input and cuts energy usage by over 50% in comparison to other direct air capture (DAC) technologies.

After successfully establishing operations at their new site, Avnos recently hosted a delegation of officials for a tour of the Bridgewater plant. The group of visitors included Congressman Tom Kean, Jr., Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench, and Somerset County Commissioner Paul Drake.
Speaking about the event, Avnos CEO Will Kain shared that the company intends to collaborate closely with elected representatives at both the local and federal levels to develop policies aimed at eliminating historic carbon emissions and delivering significant benefits to communities.
The experience gained at the Avnos Bridgewater plant will serve as a catalyst for the company’s expansion and technological growth efforts in the future as they embark on an ambitious scaling plan over the course of the next two years.
