Industrial software company Aspen Technology announced on Dec. 13 a partnership with Saudi Aramco, an integrated energy and chemicals company, to introduce innovative carbon capture and utilization software. The integrated modeling and optimization solution will allow capital-intensive industries to reach practical and economical solutions for Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU).

The software aims to empower businesses to make evidence-based decisions in support of adopting CO2 management strategies that optimize and accelerate sustainable operations.
The new product is based on technology developed by Aramco in collaboration with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST). The company’s subsidiary Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC) has licensed the technology to Aspen Technology as part of its broader capabilities to optimize CO2 reduction.
