Article 6.4 Mechanism Supervisory Body Launches Public Consultation On Removal Activities - Carbon Herald

The Article 6.4 mechanism Supervisory Body has launched a public consultation, seeking additional inputs regarding carbon removal activities under the Article 6.4 mechanism. The deadline for the public to send feedback is 1st August 2023. 

The consultation is being carried out in response to a request of the “Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement” or CMA.

Stakeholders are encouraged to provide input by answering the questions included in the document Guidance and Questions for structured consultation on recommendations for activities involving removals available here and the presentation from the sixth meeting of the Supervisory Body on 13 July 2023 available here

Some of the removal topics in the call for inputs are: monitoring and reporting, reversal risks, reversal risk tools, and treatment of uncancelled/unused buffer emission reductions (ERs).

People should submit their input to the Supervisory Body via email at A6.4mechanism-info@unfccc.int with an email subject line: Structured Public Consultation – Removal Activities.

The received inputs will be considered by the Supervisory Body and will be publicly available in the United Nations website.
